Inspirations stem from performing daily mundane matters and most of the time, this happens to me when I am taking a shower early in the morning. One day, the idea of ‘Value Travel’ came to mind while I hummed merrily in the shower (yes, I like to multi-task!). I have no idea if that was influenced by one of my latest editorial projects for a company that specialises in Value Investing BUT the idea of Value Travel makes perfect sense.
Value Travel ≠ Cheap Travel
I did a quick search on the net but I could not find the term ‘Value Travel’ in the academic context. So here’s my explanation for what Value Travel is all about:
Value Travel = Satisfying Needs, Wants & Interests during Travel
Value Travel is about satisfying your needs, wants and interests during your travels. It differs for individuals because it depends on how you perceive value. It could be about saving costs, personal growth or something more. After all, there are some things that cannot be tagged with price (or at least not yet!) and the intrinsic rewards of your travel fall into this category.
In fact, Value Travel is not new. You might have been doing it all this while. However, at the risk of stating the obvious, I am writing this post (comes in two parts) because sometimes, people forget. Sometimes, people overlook the obvious because they are too fixated with certain aspects. I hope that you are not one of them. But if you are, the next article (Creating Value Travel) may come in handy.
