Time slips by sneakily. It has been three weeks since I’ve posted my last entry. Being home was comforting, to say the least. No matter how I love travelling, I love the feeling of returning home even more.
Yet, I do miss the places that I have been, the beautiful sights that I have seen and I cannot wait to share them here. Anyhow, here I am, back in Hamilton… and it is about time I start writing again.
One lovely Friday, the BFF brought me to an awesome place in the countryside called Woodside Estate. From its name, you might think that it is a residential area? Well, this lovely, charming place is also known as a rural café.
Rural cafes are popular in New Zealand and it makes for a perfect escape in the idyllic countryside for city dwellers (not that there are a lot of people living in the city here like Singapore).
Nestled in the tranquil Matangi, which is less than 20 minutes drive from Hamilton Central, Woodside Estate is a restaurant and café that has their own brewery! Upon stepping into the bistro, one would be pleasantly greeted with the aromatic scent of coffee and charming décor that reflects memories. With a cosy interior and lovely outdoor settings, it doesn’t matter where you wish to sit – as long as you get a seat (I heard that this place is usually packed during the weekends)!
(Cafe Latte with a cute chocolate fish)
(Potato & Feta Rosti with Poached Egg…)
(Scallops, Bacon & Crushed Avocado on Wholemeal Toast…)
(Some Meringue Tart whose name is too long… lol)
The BFF and I enjoyed our brunch thoroughly and to work off the calories, we headed outdoors to take a walk around the “estate”. Along the way, I ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the wonderful scenery – feeling like a country bumpkin at the countryside.

A few days ago, the BFF mentioned that she tried out another rural café and will bring me soon. *Yay, can’t wait!* 😀

Sorry for the late reply! I actually visited the cafe a few years back so I can’t say whether its possible, but it does seem suitable for dogs too. 🙂 You may want to get in touch with Woodside Estate to be sure.
