Summer begins with a somewhat awkward hello but I was drawn out of my shell quickly, to mark an unforgettable journey. A journey that healed old scars and fears. A journey of friendships, laughter and meaningful times. A journey of awakening.
Three summers ago, I stumbled upon a geomancy (feng shui) company – an industry that is as foreign to me as Kiribati (in case you don’t know, it’s an island nation in the Pacific Ocean). From the fast-paced travel industry to being my own boss in retail & ecommerce, I was clearly out of my depth when I took up this job as an English editor for feng shui publications. Seriously? Initially, I had trouble adjusting to the slower pace and colleagues who seem to be on different wavelengths but! Time proves to be an astute friend. It didn’t take me long to realize that I am in a special place with special people.
Yesterday, the boss asked me, “Are you happy working here?” My answer is (without hesitation) yes.
Beyond the usual gripes on work (we all love to complain for the sake of complaining, no?), I enjoyed my job and the wonderful people whom I worked with. I am ever grateful for all the opportunities given to me, right from the start. Dear colleagues, the times that we shared are tagged to my heart. Thank you. Sincerely.
It is the season of summer again… and it is time to say goodbye. But, let us not be sad. Before long, we shall cross paths again. Till then, do take care and forget me not.
