Life Rambles My Singapore

Word of the year 2022

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realise they were the big things.”

—Robert Brault

As 2022 draws to an end, there’s just one word to sum up my entire year and that’s gratitude. There are good times and bad times, and I found myself being more thankful than ever during challenging times. A dear old friend used to tell me, “everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” 🙂

Despite the lacklustre year lined with a series of neverending minor disappointments, there were small wins here and there. I continue to count my blessings for timely work (which I enjoyed and didn’t have to hustle for), travel, good food and most importantly, quality time spent with people that matters.

This year, I’m especially grateful to be able to fall back to the basics, and retreat into a world of books or nature whenever I feel lost. Those quiet moments must be the little things that Brault referred to. Unwittingly, I have embraced slow living, and became stronger physically and mentally.

I hope 2022 has been a meaningful year for you, but if you feel that you can do better, we are just a day away from the New Year. All the best and here’s to living slow, imperfect, purposefully and true for you.
