warm winter in Shanghai
China ~ Like Never Before Life Rambles

Shanghai Day#86

Those beautiful random moments that I would like to remember

It was a sunny day in winter, unexpectedly (but delightfully) warm. The weather forecast predicted the highest temperature at noon to be around 20°C. We tried to head out earlier to enjoy the day but as usual, we didn’t make it out of the house before 11am. Did I mention that just a few days ago, the temperature dipped below zero°C?

In the neighbourhood, there were more elderly people standing (yes, literally) on the streets, and strolling on pavements along the road and canal. There were almost smiles on their faces, or so I would like to think.

Golden rays peeked through trees that lined the sidewalk, casting beautiful patterns on the ground we treaded. The Osmanthus trees seemed to be flowering once again, next to the river that sparkled like precious gems.

Adorned with a satisfied grin like that of the Cheshire cat, I imagined flashing (my most) dazzling smiles at each passerby. Surely they were enjoying basking in the sunlight, as much as I did! At that rare moment, I felt just that tiny bit of being part of the community – bonded by the unexpectedly (but delightfully) warm weather.

Climate change is worrying though. Sighs.
